38th ANNUAL CONVENTION AND BUSINESS EXPO

October 2 – 4, 2013
Houston, Texas ~ Westin Galleria Hotel

The 38th Annual Convention and Business Expo October 2 – 4, 2013 in Houston will be at the Westin Galleria Hotel.  We are very excited about the venue and this year’s convention. Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States and is in the mecca of fortune 500 Corporations. This year’s convention is shaping up to be the best TAMACC Annual Convention has hosted in the past decade.

The following is just a sample of programs, activities and events that will be a part of this year’s annual TAMACC convention and business expo.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2013

Golf Tournament:  TAMACC and Camara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston will kick off the convention with a Texas Scramble golf tournament. This will be a fun morning for golfers and an opportunity to network with corporate representatives, business owners and decision makers. Food, prizes, and goodie bags for all participants.

Welcome Reception:  This reception is the opening to the TAMACC 38th Annual Convention and Business Expo.  During the reception it will be an opportunity to reconnect with the TAMACC family of chambers, meet Houston and Harris County elected officials, network and socialize with the state agency representatives, corporate representatives, and business leaders from around the state.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2013

Business Expo:  The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 8:00 AM to enter the largest Business Expo that TAMACC has hosted in years – over 140 exhibitors will be present during this Business Expo. On the Expo floor there will be a stage area for seminars and interactive workshops. The seminars will focus on issues and current events that affect us as business owners and community leaders. Throughout the day there will be notable people, business opportunities, giveaways and exciting surprises. The Expo is a free event and is open to the public.

Latina Empowerment Luncheon:  Historically the Latina luncheon is a sold out event. This luncheon is focused on the outstanding accomplishments that our Latina entrepreneurs are achieving in business.  Three women who have excelled over the last year will receive the TAMACC Businesswoman of the Year Award.  The speakers for this luncheon are accomplished and inspiring Latina business owners and entrepreneurs. They are a reminder of how empowering women truly are in Texas.

Camara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston Host Event:  The Camara will be hosting an off site event during the convention. The date, time and location will be announced on this web site soon.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013

Seminars:  The seminars will be set up in a classroom style and in a smaller setting to ensure comprehensive discussion and effective understanding.  Some of the topics covered in this year’s workshops are the Health Care Act, alternative funding available for the large procurement bids, how to effectively utilize social media in your business, just to name a few.

Procurement Roundtable Matchmaking:  No business organization can have a convention without business opportunities.  We are partnering with a national company that focuses only on matchmaking with businesses to corporations, state and federal agencies, and universities.  If you are a certified Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) this is an opportunity you do not want to miss. For businesses who are not certified HUBs, we will have opportunities available to learn how to become certified and what this could mean to your bottom line.  No business is too large or too small to attend this event.  To meet with decision makers to find out the opportunities of procurement with the respective entity is priceless.  Why would anyone go to a business convention and leave money on the table?

Annual Meeting:  The Annual Meeting, every TAMACC Member Chamber shall be entitled to ten (10) voting delegates, is a time to review the past year and discuss the future of the organization. There will be guest speakers and regional caucuses for discussion of best practices and to elect the Regional Directors. Some of the action items to be voted on this year will be the 2015 Convention Site; Quarterly Meeting Locations; and the elections of the TAMACC Executive Committee.

Legislative Reception: Prior to the Chairman’s Gala TAMACC will host a legislative reception. This is an opportunity to hear, meet and network with our Texas elected officials.

Chairman’s Gala and Awards Banquet:  The Chairman’s Gala is a black tie event that is the highlight of the convention and of the year.  During the gala there are notable speakers, awards to the Businessman, Chamber, Corporation, Government and the induction of the 2014 – 2015 Executive Committee. We are excited to have Justice Eva Guzman to induct these officers.

Hospitality Suites:  There is not a convention complete without a couple of hospitality suites.  This is just a fun evening to unwind and to socially network with the other attendees. Each night is an opportunity to host and/or attend a hospitality suite.
