SAN JOSE, CA - October 18, 2019 - (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) will meet in San Jose, CA on October 23-25 to discuss the importance of creating new print and digital content in this new era of media.

The three-day event, titled “The Voice of Our Community through Print and Digital,” will analyze the Hispanic print media industry in the United States.

As part of the NAHP, award winners of the José Martí Prize will be announced during the convention. The awards have become an important distinction in media.

“In this new era in which digital content plays a fundamental role in the growth of the publishing industries, it is essential that we, the media leaders, understand the needs of our readers and customers,” said Fanny Miller, President of NAHP, CEO of Latina & Associates, Inc who published El Latino San Diego, Celebrando Latinas Magazine and Celebrando Latinas Conference. “Consistency in leadership is an aspect that cannot be underestimated; it is extremely important for the development of leaders in our industry.”

The president also said that a strategy is being developed to help the association's members to establish new communication platforms for the benefit of the publications and the public they serve, as well as "being the voice of the community in all the markets in which we have a presence."

Fanny Miller stated that the Executive Committee she presides has made a number of positive changes for the benefit of the association, including allowing the organization's Board of Directors to be re-elected for up to three consecutive terms. "We have made great strides this year with the board of directors, which includes members of the 7 regions in the country.”

Under Fanny Miller's administration, the NAHP held a major executive summit in the national capital which generated economic revenue for the organization; it has maintained and obtained new partnerships with Fortune 500 corporations; it has achieved a council that works in coordination with all NAHP members; and it has led the last two conventions with a positive profit record. It has also established NAHP Media LLC, a for-profit organization to benefit members with ads and marketing that has achieved 1.5 million in ads.

“Today the industry is made up by 1861 publications, including newspapers, weeklies, and magazines with profits of more than one billion dollars,” said Miller.

According to statistics from the National Association of Hispanic Publications, the majority of Hispanic publications were founded in the 1990s and reach a circulation of more than 23 million copies.

Sponsors this year include Toyota, American Petroleum Institute, Ads Movil, Coca Cola, Macy's, Nexus Services, RCN/NTN24 and others.
