TAMACC Joins Texans for Responsible Infrastructure Investment

Statewide voice for Hispanic-owned businesses lends its support to the coalition advancing the electricity transmission investment that powers Texas jobs and small-business growth.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texans for Responsible Infrastructure Investment (TRII) today announced that the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) has joined the statewide, non-partisan coalition as a supporter, backing the electric grid investments Texas needs to remain reliable, affordable, and economically competitive.

Founded in 1975, TAMACC is an Austin-based statewide nonprofit that promotes business leadership, creates economic opportunities, and provides legislative and business advocacy for the Hispanic business community in Texas. Through a network of local Hispanic chambers of commerce — whose members are overwhelmingly small business owners — TAMACC works to expand Hispanic participation in the Texas economy.

“Hispanic-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing engines of the Texas economy, and like every employer, they depend on reliable, affordable electricity to grow and create jobs,” said Pauline E. Anton, President and CEO of TAMACC. “When the grid can’t keep up, it’s small businesses and the communities they serve that feel it first. We’re supporting TRII because investing in Texas’s transmission infrastructure is an investment in economic opportunity for the Texas families and entrepreneurs we represent — and because that conversation should be informed by facts and by the business owners who live with the results.”

“A reliable grid isn’t a big-business issue or a small-business issue — it’s the foundation everyone builds on, and no one understands that better than the entrepreneurs TAMACC represents,” said Bill Lauderback, Executive Chair of TRII. “We’re proud to welcome TAMACC and its statewide network of Hispanic chambers to this coalition. Their support reflects the broad, non-partisan agreement that Texas has to invest in the transmission our growing economy depends on — and that getting it right means listening to the businesses and communities with the most at stake.”

Texas is growing fast. ERCOT now forecasts that peak demand will be roughly double what the system was carrying just a few years ago. TRII was formed to make sure the conversation about how to meet that demand is grounded in facts, and that the voices of customers, engineers, economists, businesses, and local leaders who understand the stakes are amplified. The 765-kV backbone authorized under the Texas Strategic Transmission Expansion Plan (STEP) sits at the intersection of three priorities all Texans share: reliability, economic competitiveness, and affordability.

In the months ahead, TRII will continue building a broad, cross-sector coalition that reflects the full breadth of Texas support for responsible infrastructure investment, commission independent economic and engineering research, and counter misinformation in real time.
