Tejano Day Celebration Set for April 4 at the Texas Capitol
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) invites the public to join in the celebration of Tejano Day on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the South Steps of the Texas State Capitol from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
The afternoon will feature a vibrant lineup of Mariachi music, Ballet Folklorico performances, guest speakers, and other lively cultural festivities. Following the program, guests are welcome to enjoy refreshments on the Capitol lawn near the Tejano Monument.
Although Tejano Day is officially observed on Sunday, April 6, TAMACC will be commemorating the occasion a little early—and you won’t want to miss it. This event is free and open to the public.
For more than 300 years, Tejanos of Spanish, Mexican, African, and Indigenous heritage have played a vital role in shaping the rich history and culture of Texas. From founding early settlements such as San Antonio, Nacogdoches, Victoria, Goliad, and El Paso to naming many of the state’s rivers and natural landmarks, the legacy and contributions of Tejanos continue to resonate across generations.
