The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recently traveled to Washington DC to attend the Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week.

The Minority Enterprise Awards are the highest level of national recognition that a US minority-owned firm can receive from the Department of Commerce. These prestigious awards celebrate the outstanding achievement of minority entrepreneurs, as well as the individuals and organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to advancing minority business enterprise.

At the annual MED Week awards ceremony, El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce CEO, Cindy Ramos-Davidson, was awarded the National Minority Business Advocate of the Year Award. El Paso was well represented in DC with Renard Johnson, President and Founder of El Paso based Management and Engineering Technologies International (METI), being recognized as the Ronald J. Brown Minority Business Enterprise of the Year.

It validates that organizations like ours which support and provide small minority women and veteran owned businesses key technical services provided through our MBDA EP business center is critical for their growth to capture economic prosperity. Renard Johnson is a shining example of our dedication to our members. I am proud to say the Robert J. Brown Minority Business Enterprise of the Year award was awarded to Management and Engineering Technologies International, an El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce member, and Renard Johnson, former chairman of the board.” Says Cindy Ramos-Davidson.
